Does the giver need the recipient’s address?

No. The giver chooses a gift and checks out. The recipient opens their gift link and enters their own shipping address, which is shared with your store, never with the giver.

Does the recipient need an account?

No account and no payment. They open the gift link on your store, unwrap the gift, and provide their details.

How do gift orders work in Shopify?

A physical gift starts as a Shopify order with a placeholder shipping address and a fulfillment hold. Once the recipient claims it, Gifty adds the real address and releases the hold. Do not ship a gift while it is on hold.

What if a gift is never claimed?

Recipients have 30 days to claim by default; you can change the window in settings. If that window ends, Gifty cancels the order, refunds the giver, and restocks the item. No Gifty fee is charged.

What should I know before setting up?

Billing currently supports USD stores. Setup includes billing approval, tax configuration, a flat gift shipping rate, and adding the gifting block to your product template. The help center walks through each step.

How do shipping and tax work?

You set a flat gift shipping rate; Shopify does not recalculate shipping when the address changes. Checkout uses your configured tax ceiling. When the recipient supplies their address, tax is recalculated and any difference is refunded to the giver. See the help center for the details.

Can I gift services or digital products?

Yes. For gifts that do not need shipping, recipients provide their contact details instead of a delivery address. Your store handles the service or digital delivery.

What happens if I uninstall Gifty?

Finish or cancel open gifts first. Uninstalling removes Gifty’s access, so open gift links stop working and Gifty can no longer cancel or refund orders for you. Settings show your open gifts; the help center explains how to wind down safely.

Recipient addresses are deleted 90 days after a gift ends. Visit the help center
